Build an Upcycled Bird Feeder - Create a Haven for Native Birds
Event description
Join Space for Nature and Envirohub at Grow on Katikati for a workshop where you will build your very own bird feeder to take home.
Many bird feeders in Aotearoa are designed for introduced birds that prefer to eat bird seed. This workshop will teach you how to make a bird feeder that will attract fruit-loving native birds like Tūī, Bellbird and Wax Eye.
We will use upcycled wood, and help you to build a small footprint bird feeder that will help you create a space for nature in your own garden.
There are limited spaces for this event so please book quickly to avoid disappointment.
When: Saturday 16th August, 11am to 1pm
Where: Grow on Katikati Shed, next to the Community Centre, 45 Beach Road, Katikati
Tickets: $20 per bird feeder (multiple people can work together to create one bird feeder if preferred).
Conditions:
All children must be accompanied by an adult. This workshop requires use of a hammer and drill, so anyone who needs help using those will need an adult helper.
We may be photographing the event, please let us know when you arrive, if you do not want to be in any photos.
