Description

A fairer housing future is possible. Together, we can make it happen.

Join Everybody's Home for an inspiring end-of-year conversation with Matt Lloyd-Cape, author of Our Place, about how we can create a housing system that works for everyone.

After years of collective advocacy, 2026 has brought significant movement on housing tax reform - a powerful reminder that change is possible, even when the challenges seem enormous.

As we look towards 2027, it's time to ask: What else could we achieve together?

In this one-hour online conversation, we'll explore:

  • What a fairer, more secure and affordable housing future could look like.

  • What this year's progress on housing tax reform teaches us about the power of collective advocacy.

  • How we can build momentum for stronger renters' rights and a major expansion of public and community housing.

Our speakers

Matt Lloyd-Cape - Author of Our Place
Matt joined the progressive think tank Per Capita in 2019, and in 2022 he was the founding director of the Centre for Equitable Housing, where he is now the principal fellow. He is a prominent commentator and adviser on housing issues.

Robyn Hansen
Robyn brings a unique perspective on Australia's housing system, having experienced it as a homeowner, landlord, property manager and renter. After a period of housing insecurity, she moved into social housing in 2024. Now enjoying the stability of a place of her own, Robyn is actively involved in her community through her court support role, sharing her love of lifelong learning and arts and crafts, as well as supporting others to develop their English language and literacy skills. Her story highlights how secure housing enables people to connect, contribute and thrive.

Maiy Azize - National Spokesperson, Everybody's Home
Maiy is the National Spokesperson for Everybody's Home, a national campaign bringing together more than 500 organisations and tens of thousands of supporters to advocate for a fairer housing system. Maiy will facilitate the conversation.
