Event description

Lancaster Shakespeare Theatre is proud to announce its support of Building Bridges Foundation at Anderson Farm in Conestoga in conjunction with our production of David Rabe’s Streamers, a searing exploration of trauma suffered by military personnel. Building Bridges is committed to honoring those who have served by providing a path toward healing—one veteran at a time.

At the heart of their mission is a simple but powerful idea: horses help heal. Through equine-assisted activities, the Foundation offers a safe, natural setting where veterans, their families, and others coping with trauma, loss, or emotional challenges can find peace, purpose, and renewed strength. Unlike traditional therapy, these sessions rely not on words, but on the emotional connection between human and horse—creating space for reflection, trust, and release. Every program is led by certified professionals and grounded in the highest standards of equine-assisted therapy.

Set on a tranquil 20-acre farm, Building Bridges offers four open pastures, quiet benches for reflection, and a gazebo for one-on-one sessions, even in inclement weather. An ATV ensures accessibility for visitors with mobility challenges. Their weekly Veterans Café welcomes up to 100 guests for coffee, conversation, and community.

What began as a dream to offer free therapy to veterans has grown into a thriving sanctuary—where healing, mentorship, and connection flourish. Whether you’re a veteran, a loved one, or someone inspired to support this work, we invite you to join us in building bridges between the arts and the important cause that the Pulitzer Prize and Tony-nominated Streamers sheds light on. In doing so, you will help this organization build bridges between service and civilian life, trauma and hope, isolation and community.

When making an online donation, you will have the opportunity to honor a specific veteran by name. These special honorary donations will be recognized in the Streamers program. After you have made your donation, feel free to upload a photograph of the veteran you are honoring. This will help us celebrate your loved one through social media!

All funds raised through this campaign will be shared equally between Building Bridges Foundation and Lancaster Shakespeare Theatre, supporting both veteran healing and the continued creation of meaningful, mission-driven theatre.
