Building Emotional Awareness & Workplace Resilience

Supporting others and building meaningful relationships is at the heart of our work. Whether we’re providing direct care, coordinating services, or working behind the scenes, we rely on empathy, patience, and emotional sensitivity every day. These qualities are our greatest strengths, but in high-pressure environments, especially when navigating change, conflict, or emotionally charged situations, they can be tested.

So how do we harness these strengths? How do we use emotional awareness to create environments that are not only compassionate, but also resilient, collaborative, and supportive?

This workshop offers a practical and engaging introduction to emotional awareness and resilience. It’s designed to help participants understand how emotions influence behaviour, decision-making, and team dynamics, and how to use that understanding to foster stronger communication, reduce conflict, and build more supportive relationships in both work and personal life.

Through interactive activities, group discussion, and guided reflection, participants will explore their own emotional responses and learn how to respond more effectively to the emotions of others. The workshop provides a simple, relatable framework that can be applied immediately in day-to-day interactions, whether you're supporting people with disability, managing a team, or working alongside colleagues.

This is not just a leadership skill; it’s a core capability for everyone, and especially vital for those working in the support services sector. It’s about building the emotional tools we all need to thrive—not just at work, but in life.

Meet Your Trainer: Peter Agnew

Peter is a respected facilitator with over a decade of experience delivering programs for National Disability Services across Australia. Known for his warm and engaging style, Peter creates safe, reflective learning environments where participants feel supported and inspired.

With master’s degrees in Business, Education, and Psychotherapy, Peter brings a unique blend of academic insight and practical experience. His background in psychotherapy makes him especially skilled at guiding participants through emotional awareness, behaviour, and communication.

Peter’s workshops are interactive, relatable, and grounded in the realities of working in the community, disability, aged care, and allied health sectors—with practical tools that can be applied immediately.
