Building relationships with community and beyond
Event description
Education settings have clear requirements when it comes to teaching and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures and histories. However, a lot of sites find this overwhelming as they are not sure how to get started, where to find information, or what they are allowed to teach?
When schools and early learning sites build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and community, these concerns will fade away. Having relationships that are built on trust and reciprocity is the only way to ensure that you are working with integrity.
Join Reconciliation South Australia in collaboration with Eric from the River Murray Mallee Aboriginal Corporation to learn about how to build relationships with community and how to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in education settings in meaningful and ongoing ways.
We'll cover everything from community engagement to good governance processes, and of course how a Reconciliation Action Plan can support all of your planning and set yu up for success!
