This workshop series equips leaders and managers within gendered violence and women’s health services with practicals tools and guidance in developing tailored risk management strategies strengthening safe and healthy workplaces. Focused on the Queensland Managing the Risks of Psychosocial Harm at Work Code of Practice 2022 (the Code), the series will integrate compliance with the Code and the WorkUP Workforce Capability Framework.  

These practical insights and strategies will help build your workforce’s wellbeing and long-term sustainability.  

This includes downloadable evidence-informed resources, templates, and links to support implementation and compliance for your organisation.  

Across two facilitated small-group online interactive workshops  WorkUP invites you to enhance understanding and application of risk management strategies in your organisation.  

 This is an opportunity to connect with other leaders and innovators for shared learning and growth.  


Workshop 1: Pulse Check - Connecting to Identify Current Needs and Building Practical Skills  

  • Identify key risks: Explore both known and emerging psychosocial hazards in the sector  
  • Examine & assess current sector practices: Share successes, challenges, and innovations 
  • Explore psychosocial risk management practices within the sector  
  • Identify emerging challenges and explore innovative, evidence-based models of collective care  
  • Identify emerging insights and explore innovative, evidence-based risk mitigation including models of collective care     
  • Develop practical tools for enhancing workforce wellbeing and supporting sustainable service delivery  

Workshop 2: Planning for Action – Implementing Psychosocial Risk Management Strategies  

  • Consult frontline workers: Discuss worker consultation preferences to inform risk management actions  
  • Psychosocial Risk Management in Action – Four Steps to safer workplaces 
  • Highlight collective care frameworks: Focus on shared responsibility for psychosocial safety and identify knowledge gaps for further capacity building  
  • Roadmap for sector organisations: Discuss policy development, risk management matrices, and the creation of communities of practice  
  • Resources bank: Identify resource needs and potential development initiatives  


Special invitation to direct one-hour consultation with Facilitator Kerriann Dear will be available to participants completing both workshops.

  • To equip sector leaders and managers with a clear understanding of their responsibilities under the Queensland Managing the Risks of Psychosocial Harm at Work Code of Practice (2022), while providing practical contextualised tools to manage risks effectively in an ongoing manner; and   
  • To create and implement comprehensive risk management strategies that actively prevent and minimise exposure to psychosocial hazards, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment for all employees.

    About the presenter/s

    Kerriann Dear

    Kerriann Dear has over 20 years of experience in social work, specializing in leadership, advocacy, training, and counseling within the not-for-profit sector. She has held senior roles, including Director of Queensland Working Women’s Service and Basic Rights Queensland Community Legal Centre. Kerriann has expertise in program development, notably leading the nationally recognized DFV Work Aware program, which provides workplace training on domestic and family violence. With a trauma-informed approach, Kerriann supports organizations in creating safe, resilient workplaces. She has served as a Director on WorkCover Queensland’s Board since 2017 and volunteers in governance roles within the not-for-profit sector.
