Building respectful boundaries with Simi Desor
Event description
Building respectful boundaries
with Simi Desor
Boundaries are a two-way street with our tamariki and rangatahi. We want our young people to adhere to the 'expectations and rules' that we set, but we, too, need to be able to adhere to 'rules and expectations' of parenting. What are these rules and expectations?
This workshop looks at why we set boundaries for our young people: to let them know that we care about them and are connected to them, to help them feel safe and supported, to help them make carefully scaffolded informed decisions, to provide an overall structure so that they can build their sense of autonomy with support. As we develop our young people’s autonomy, how do we know that we are not overstepping boundaries and suffocating them? This workshop is an engaging exploration of boundaries (theirs and ours), with practical take-home tips and tools for you and your whānau!
