BUILDING THE FUTURE BOOK TALK with Paul Geraets and Sally Webster
Event description
Rammed earth building dates back more than 2000 years and, like many of the structures created with it, is still standing as a strong, beautiful and ecologically kind way to build. In the 1990s, builder Paul Geraets put down his hammer and picked up a rammer instead - he was intent on developing this methodology to build sturdy, healthy and sustainable homes for today. 'Building the Future; From the Ground Up' is both his story and that of rammed earth building in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear the key themes detailed in the book, from the science of thermal mass heating and cooling to a profit-not-health focused building industry, to the aesthetic pleasures that people derive from living in a rammed earth home. Author Sally Webster will lead the conversation with Paul Geraets and facilitate the Q&A.
'Building the Future: From the Ground Up' will be available for purchase at a special price on the night.
