On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the Strauss-Clements Intelligence Studies Project will host a public talk, “Building the Space Force We Need, and the Intelligence to Support It" by Ed Mornston, Deputy Director of Intelligence, Headquarters U.S. Space Force. The event is free and open to the public.
Registration is RECOMMENDED. Registrants will receive any updates regarding the event.
Lunch will be provided.
Garage parking is available for a fee at the Manor Garage and the San Jacinto Garage. Parking will not be validated.
BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Ed Mornston is the Deputy Director of Intelligence, Headquarters U.S. Space Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. In this capacity, he serves as the second ranking Intelligence Officer to the Chief of Space Operations and is responsive to the Secretary of the Air Force and Chief of Space Operations for policy formulation, planning, evaluation, oversight, and leadership of Space Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
Previously, he was the Director of Intelligence and Security at Army Futures Command, a member of the AFC executive leadership team, and the Senior Intelligence Officer. He provided intelligence assessments to inform Army transformation efforts. Additionally, he was responsible for all security, counterintelligence, and technology protection efforts to ensure the Army delivered uncompromised capabilities.
After high school, Mr. Mornston enlisted in the Army, attended the Military Academy Prep School, and graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1980. He served as an infantry officer in various assignments in light and heavy units for 20 years, as well as in The Old Guard, on the Army Staff, and the Joint Staff in the Directorate of Strategy and Policy.
Upon his retirement from the Army, Mr. Mornston served as a civilian intelligence professional at the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and Defense Intelligence Agency; deployed with Joint Special Operations Command; led the NGA team at Aerospace Data Facility-Colorado and was the NGA Director of Human Resources and the NGA Chief of Staff.
