This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

To accelerate the growth of catalytic capital, and the impact investment and social enterprise market in Western Australia, we're thrilled to launch this partnership between Impact Seed and blended finance leaders, Sefa.

Due to COVID-19, the event has now been split into two components - a webinar followed by a workshop later in the year. Please click here for information about the workshop.

--

This 1.5 hour webinar will be presented by Sefa CEO Hanna Ebeling and Impact Seed Founding Director Kylie Hansen and will feature an overview about blended finance, alongside discussion of some leading impact investment projects and social entrepreneurs from around the country who are currently building their investment readiness to take on blended finance.

Growing a catalytic funding environment is essential for projects which need medium-term support towards financial sustainability.

What is blended finance?

Blended finance is an innovative and critical form of impact investment, in which philanthropic contributions, concessionary capital and other investments are packaged together to enable for-profit and NFP investable impact projects and social enterprises to achieve long-term financial sustainability. This results in accelerated delivery of their impact outcomes.

What will I take away from this event?

In this webinar we will explore the basics of blended finance, alongside some national case studies. This will provide the grounding for the workshop later in the year.

Who is the audience for this event?

The webinar is focussed on funders, foundations, government agencies, and investors, but anyone can join us.

This webinar is supported through funding from the Government of Western Australia's X-TEND New Industries Fund.

About the presenters

Hanna Ebeling, Acting CEO of Sefa

Hanna has done far too much to cram into this bio — perhaps it’s her German efficiency. From traditional banking with HSBC to impact investment in the Philippines, Hanna brings a global practice lens to Sefa as Chief Executive Officer. She is on the board of Woodville Alliance, and works with the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership to improve collaboration between government, private sector, and philanthropy. At home you’ll find her preparing dehydrated meals for her next bushwalk or studying for her Australian citizenship test.

Kylie Hansen (Founder & Executive Director, Impact Seed)

Kylie is a passionate advocate and leading capacity builder across the WA not-for-profit, government, social enterprise sectors, and is well recognised for her high quality impact in these areas over the past 10 years.

Kylie leads Impact Seed's impact and outcomes measurement agenda, supporting social enterprises and purpose driven organisations, impact investors and investees to fully understand, articulate and measure their impact.

Kylie sits on a number of WA boards and committees, including Linkwest, SCALES Community Legal Centre, AIESEC WA Board of Advice, the Fairbridge Centre for Social Innovation, the Social Impact Measurement Network – Western Australia, and the Alumni for Social Impact at UWA, and is a former mentor with the School for Social Entrepreneurs, and former CEO of Cambodian-Australian social enterprise Empowering Communities.  She holds Graduate Certificates in Social Impact and Project Management; Bachelor of Community Development; Bachelor of Commerce; Bachelor of Arts, and Juris Doctor (Postgraduate Law) UWA.
