Description

Do you want to improve your self-awareness in new and creative ways?

Have you always wanted to journal but aren't sure how to start a practice?

Do you need some creative strategies to reduce your stress and improve your resilience?

This is the third workshop in my series exploring Creating a Journalling Practice. We discuss the importance of journalling and some of the popular visual methods. The goal of the series is to present you with a range of options outside written journalling that might work for your own reflective practice. As well as discussing techniques and giving you activities to explore the ideas, Kylie will provide you with some resources and additional references to help you discover more for yourself.

Kylie is a huge supporter of the idea of self-experimentation as a means of developing actions, practices and habits that work well for your unique situation and brain. This series explores and introduces some of the more popular visual journalling styles and provides you with references to support you in experimenting with them after the workshop.

In Workshop Three: Basics of Bullet Journalling, we will:

  • Discuss the benefits of a reflective practice

  • Outline the concepts of bullet journalling and the main components

  • Go through the concept of trackers and ideas about what you can track

  • Show some examples and work on the ideas yourself.

These workshops are designed to help you improve your self-awareness and mental health management. This session will give you an understanding of the basic structure and elements of a bullet journal and how you can use the basic techniques to create a practical and sustainable journal for your life.

Kylie Dunn is a graphic scribe who captures and creates visual notes for organisations at events and to support communication. This includes capturing conferences, workshops and consultation sessions. She is also an avid journaller who shares her monthly bullet journal setup videos on YouTube.

FAQs

  • What do I need to bring to the course?

All materials will be supplied for you, but if you have a notebook or pens you would like to use you can bring them along. You will also be given some resources to take home - along with a link to additional references and downloadable resources.

Note: this course does not include a journal and there is no requirement to have one for this session.

  • Do I need to be able to draw?

Not at all. This isn't about being an artist, it's about simple creative activities that support reflection and processing - we'll look at simple line work and colouring in.

  • What is accessibility like?

Accessibility is very good for this event. The workshop is being held in the St Lukes Wellness Hub. This is on the corner of Elizabeth and Liverpool Streets in Hobart, on the ground floor.
