Description

Cruise Pre-Season Information Session (10:00am–12:00pm)

The 2026/27 cruise season will bring cruise visitors from around the world to Burnie and the North West Coast. The Cruise Pre-Season Information Session provides an opportunity to hear from key industry leaders about the upcoming season, the cruise market, and the opportunities it presents for our region.

The session will provide an overview of the cruise sector, the role Burnie plays within the industry and how local businesses, tourism operators and community organisations can help create a positive visitor experience and maximise the benefits of cruise tourism.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from industry representatives, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of what to expect during the season.

You will hear from:

  • West by North West Tasmania

  • Tourism Tasmania

  • Australian Cruise Association

  • Burnie City Council

  • TasPorts

Following on from the morning Cruise Industry Information Session, this year, the Burnie Volunteer Information Session will be solely focused on volunteers, with a new, separate Markers Market Information Session being held concurrently in a different room. This will ensure everyone receives the information most relevant to them, particularly given the changes taking place this season.

Burnie Volunteer Information Session (1:00pm–3:00pm)

If you’re a Burnie Experience Volunteer, Museum Volunteer or Visitor Guide, this session will provide an opportunity to hear from the Volunteer Coordinator about what to expect during the season, your role in supporting cruise visitors and the key operational arrangements you need to know.

This session will cover topics such as:

  • Volunteer roles and expectations

  • Makers Market

  • Shuttle stop and buses

  • Cruise ship arrival and departure operations

  • Key locations and logistics

  • More

This is a great opportunity for both new and returning volunteers to understand what’s ahead, ask questions and make sure you’re prepared for the season.

Burnie Cruise Market Stallholder Information Session (1:00pm–3:00pm)

If you are a Makers Market stallholder this session will provide the opportunity for you to hear about what’s changing for this season, how the Makers Market will operate on cruise days and what stallholders need to know to help ensure the market runs smoothly and provides a welcoming experience for cruise visitors.

This session will cover topics such as:

  • Makers Market operations and layout

  • Stallholder arrival, set-up and pack-down

  • Vehicle access and parking

  • Cruise visitor flow and market operations

  • Stallholder expectations and requirements

  • Key operational changes for the 2026/27 season

  • More

This is a great opportunity for both new and returning stallholders to understand what’s ahead, ask questions and ensure everyone is prepared for a successful cruise season.
