The Cruise Pre-Season Briefing (10:00am-12:00pm)

This summer will see around 21 cruise ship visit Burnie. We want to make sure these guests see the very best that North West Tasmania has to offer and have a fantastic visitor experience.

The Burnie pre-season briefing ensures you are up to speed with the scope and logistics of the season as well as introducing the many opportunities to work with this sector to ultimately increase its economic yield.

Participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions and investigate ways to work with this sector.

You will hear from:

  • WxNW

  • Tourism Tasmania

  • Australian Cruise Association

  • Burnie City Council

  • TasPorts

Burnie Volunteer Information Session (1:00-3:00pm)

Following the morning Cruise Pre-Season Briefing session, we invite all Burnie volunteers to join as we share how Burnie City Council will contribute to the success of the 2025/26 Cruise season.

If you’re a Burnie Experience Volunteer, Museum Volunteer or Visitor Guide, we invite you to hear from Burnie City Council’s Volunteer Coordinator, Philip, where he will guide us through the key logistics for the upcoming Cruise Ship season.

This session will include topics such as.

  • Makers Market

  • Shuttle Stop and Buses

  • Volunteer Roles/Expectations

  • + More

This is a great opportunity for both new and returning volunteers to learn what’s ahead, ask questions, and prepare for a successful season.
