*So what is the BURNING OF THE OOGH OOGH anyway? For the uninitiated, the Burning of the Oogh Oogh is an annual procession through the streets of nipaluna / Hobart to close Dark Mofo Festival which ends with a giant effigy of a native animal being burned, borrowing for a Balinese ritual of purging your fears. During the festival, you can write down your fears and leave them in the Oogh Oogh. On final Sunday evening at sundown, tens of thousands come down to watch it burn. If you have never stayed to experience the Burning, we think it is an unmissable Mofo experience. Oh, and it is totally free!
