Spotlight on Enabling Good Lives: Its implications for research and what we should be considering when incorporating EGL principles into research
with Tom Callanan and Emily Timothy
Join us to hear from our two presenters, Tom Callanan and Emily Timothy, on the following topics. As always, our research forums are open to all our stakeholders including researchers, clinicians and people with lived experience of disability.
Tom Callanan from Enabling Good Lives in Waitaha Canterbury will be presenting around his work as an EGL Connector and the principles of Enabling Good Lives and how these can be applied in a research setting.
Emily Timothy, as a researcher involved in a Stroke Navigation research project, will be presenting how from a research perspective the values and outworkings of EGL principles.
Emily's research team recently investigated navigational support for people and their whānau after stroke in Otāutahi. Their co-design team explored the principles of Enabling Good Lives and Whānau Ora, along with the voices of people who have experienced navigating life after stroke. This allowed them to build on learnings and experiences of Enabling Good Lives and Whānau Ora to establish the foundations and recommendations for enhanced navigational support.
