Event description

You're invited to participate in a Bush Foods and Kidney Health Workshop along with a Yarning & Listening Circle to help inform digital health promotion for First Nations people.

Using a strengths-based approach, this workshop will be informative, interactive and facilitated in a two-way sharing style. This workshop focusses on preventing and managing chronic kidney disease (CKD). Information shared will lean into the needs of the group, and touch on topics such as dietary strategies for maintaining kidney health, managing risk factors, and potentially slowing disease progression. We believe in utilising deep listening to support food choices that promote health and wellbeing and discuss concepts such as planning balanced meals, how specific nutrients may fit into a healthful way of eating and how to integrate ancestral ways of eating and living in modern times.

During and following the workshop, you will be invited to share your stories and have a yarn about your thoughts on eating for kidney problems, and how health promotion can help you and your family and the opportunities, risks and preferences within digital health tools.

The workshop will be led by Tracy Hardy, APD from Wattleseed Nutrition with Dr Jaimon Kelly, Kidney Dietitian from University of Queensland Centre for Online Health. The yarning and listening circle will be led by Marc Harbrow of Harbrow Mentoring with Tara Diversi of Sophus Digital Health.

The workshop and yarning circle will be followed by a delicious lunch with connections.
