Bushcare & Aussie Bird Count: Friends of Ropes Creek
Event description
You’re invited to join the Birdlife's Aussie Bird Count during National Bird Week (Monday-Sunday 14-20
October).
During all Bushcare sessions between 14-20 October, we will join in! Join us at Hollier Reserve on
Tuesday 15 October, Crossman Reserve on Friday 18 October, Bellbird Reserve and Friends of
Ropes Creek groups on Saturday 19 October, or Peppermint Reserve on Saturday 20
October.
Why participate in a bird count?
Each year people across the country head out to their front yards, backyards, courtyards, parks and play areas to
count how many birds they see to provide a snapshot of Australia’s more common bird species. It’s a fun,
simple and safe activity observing nature, which is proven to provide benefits to mental health and
wellbeing.
Collecting this data at the same time each year allows us to look at the trends in our bird communities over time.
Think of birds as a barometer for nature, as their health and wellbeing is one of nature’s best indicators.
Download the Aussie Bird Count app and get involved or learn more at aussiebirdcount.org.au and join the flock for Australia’s largest
citizen science project.
As well as counting birds, we will be doing Bushcare - weeding, planting, litter collection - anything needed to care for our beautiful bushland areas! All tools and refreshments provided.
