Phil Kemp - How a rapid response triage service helped small businesses through COVID19

Throughout the COVID crisis, Business Foundations worked with 12 local councils to provide business advice and support to over 330 businesses. Phil Kemp, CEO of Business Foundations will share what we learned from working with the businesses and the importance of the partnership with local governments.

Tim Atterton - What works – practical ways local governments make a real difference in local economies

Tim Atterton is a business development specialist with 25 years’ experience, both in Australia and the UK.  He will share examples of how local governments can make a real difference in local economies through collaboration with the private sector.

We look forward to bringing you together for these thought-provoking discussions on how we can work together for a prosperous future.

Ashley Proctor - How to change the world one project at a time

Ashley Proctor from Creative Blueprint will share her insights from the 312 Main project.

312 Main was the former headquarters of the Vancouver Police Department and has been transformed into a community-centred hub that fosters collaboration and innovation among organizations, artists, and entrepreneurs, and local residents. These ‘members’ have committed to creating enduring social and economic change in the neighbourhood, city and beyond.

In consultation with almost 300 different community organizations, Ashley led the design and transformation at 312 Main, and she will discuss the challenges and the benefits of such a large collaborative project between the local government, community groups, equity-seeking residents and commercial industry with many different partners, granting agencies and investors.
