Event description

Welcome to the first of our Business Blessings Monthly Book Clubs.

The books chosen each month will be focused on connecting you to God and others through profound strategies that help you to glorify God, hear his voice clearly, and put into practice what you learn in your personal and professional lives.

We hear the voice of God in community, so the book club is designed to create a community where we explore these together.

This month's book is:

In Search of God's Will:  Discerning a life of faithfulness and purpose By Trevor Hudson

Why? Because I often hear the following comments:

"I wish I knew what God wants me to do"

"I really need God's guidance right now."

"I don't know which decision God wants me to make."

Perhaps you have said similar things? Or maybe some of the following scenarios sound more familiar:

  1. You sometimes wonder how you can know when God is communicating with you.
  2. You would like to learn more about how you can discern God's personal calling in your life.
  3. You are interested in exploring the relationship between what God desires and your own inmost desires.
  4. You would like to be able to identify where God is present and active in your everyday experience
  5. You are puzzled by what others mean when they say they hard "God's voice" or "God telling me.:
  6. You have wondered about the division of labour between God and you in the decision-making process.
  7. You face a dilemma right now where you are wondering what faithfulness to God looks like.

Then reading this book is for you.

The topics covered in the book include:

Chapter 1: Announcing God News

Chapter 2: Understanding Discernment

Chapter 3: Aligning OUr Heart with the Heart of God

Chapter 4: Listening to God in Scripture

Chapter 5: Attending to the Movements of Our Heart

Chapter 6: Uncovering and Exercising Our Gifts

Chapter 7: Reflecting on Our Circumstances

Chapter 8: Engaging in Sacred Conversations

Chapter 9: Making Faithful Decisions

Chapter 10: Becoming the Unique Person God Wants Us to Be

Each week, you will be assigned a chapter to read, but more importantly, throughout the book, Trevor has put together a series of "Discernment Exercises."  We strongly encourage you to complete these exercises and share what God speaks to you about through them in the online community we have put together and on the Sunday night calls.
