Description

Haere mai for the cheekiest fundraiser known to femmes/thems - Butch Auction 2026 🔥

A handful of butches are donating their services to fundraise for InsideOUT Kōaro and Gender Minorities Aotearoa. The services range from chefs, barbers, writing workshop facilitator, waiata performer, cocktail bartender etc,

Here's what you need to know before you come along, during the auction, and what happens afterwards.

Before the Auction -
  • Butch profiles will be uploaded on this event page and 04BC instagram page so you know who you'd want to bid for. The profiles will show terms and conditions such as

    • if the service is available for a group setting,

    • how long is the offer valid for,

    • additional costs may apply to certain services;
For example, you bid on a chef and win (congrats!). You have your first sit down and plan out a 3-course meal for a special event for you and 4 other friends. The chef may only offer to cover the first $100 of the groceries so you will need to reimburse them for the rest of the grocery bill.

    • how much notice to give your butch before redeeming the service,

    • any other conditions or boundaries attached to the offer.

  • Make yourself a paddle to use on the night for bidding purposes only, if you don't have a ready-to-go one. Please do not use the paddle on anything or anyone at the event, even if it was consented! This is not the space for it.

  • Please consider what you are comfortable paying for a butch. You can also consider financially teaming up with friends to bid on a particular service.

  • Due to limited venue capacity, please let us know if you're no longer able to attend so we can offer your spot to someone else.

During the Auction -
  • Our MCs will introduce each butch, what they're offering, and a reminder of the butch's terms and conditions before opening the floor to bids.

  • At the end of the bidding, the contact details of the top two bidders will be collected.
The full terms and conditions will be shown to the top bidder on the night. They will have 24 hours to decide to accept the T&Cs.

    • If T&Cs are agreed to -- a group chat between 04BC, bid winner, and the butch will be set up.

    • If not -- the second top bidder will be notified and be given a chance to review the same T&Cs.

      • If the second top bidder agrees to the T&Cs -- a group chat between 04BC, bidder and the butch will be set up.

      • If not -- the offer will not proceed.

After the Auction -
  • The successful bidder will have a 7-day window to finalise the payment to 04BC.

  • 04BC will facilitate an initial meet and greet between the successful bidder and the butch. This is an opportunity to connect, clarify expectations, and make sure everyone is comfortable with the arrangement before moving forward.

  • If a disagreement or concern arises, 04BC can help facilitate communication.

If an issue cannot be resolved, or either the butch or successful bidder feels unsafe or uncomfortable proceeding, the offer may be withdrawn. Any refund considerations will be assessed in line with the circumstances, but please be aware that a full refund may not be possible as this is a fundraising event.

A VERY IMPORTANT REMINDER

You're bidding on a specific service not purchasing a person.

Winning a bid does not entitle you to anything beyond what the butch has explicitly offered and agreed to. There are no implied romantic, physical or sexual expectations attached to any winning bid.

Every butch has their own boundaries and conditions, and these must be respected throughout the process. Consent is ongoing, and either party can choose not to proceed.

No SWERFs, No TERFs.

Let's keep it cheeky, respectful and safe for everyone ❤️

Venue is wheelchair accessible with lift access and accessible bathrooms.

FAQs

  • Is this event R18?

Yes, the venue is a bar so please bring valid ID (NZ passport, 18+ card, NZ driver license). IDs will be checked at the door - no ID, no entry.

  • What if someone makes me uncomfortable at the event?

Please approach a kaitiaki on the night. They will be recognisable in the butch flag coloured t-shirts.

We take concerns seriously and want everyone to feel comfortable and respected. You can also contact 04BC privately during or after the event via the instagram page.

  • Can I just come admire the butches?

We ask that everyone attending comes with the intention of participating in the bidding and supporting the kaupapa. We understand that everyone's financial circumstances are different, and there's no expectation to spend beyond your means. Even a small bid can make a difference, and you're welcome to team up with friends to bid on a service together.

  • If I win the bid, can I gift or transfer the service to another person?

    This is possible.

If you have intentions to gift the service, or can no longer redeem the service and would like to transfer to someone else, please contact 04BC via instagram or through email (04butchclub@gmail.com) to arrange this.

All transfers must be approved by 04BC and the butch offering the service, and the recipient must agree to the original terms and conditions before the service can be redeemed. This includes respecting the butch's boundaries, availability, expiry dates and any additional costs.

Please note that winning a bid does not give you the right to transfer someone else's time or services without their consent. Butches can decline a proposed transfer if they're not comfortable with it.

Services cannot be resold or transferred for financial gain.

  • Can I bring my own paddle?

Absolutely! 04BC does ask you to not use it on any thing or person at the event, even if it was consented. Despite the cheekiness of it all, we want to foster a safe, community atmosphere within this event.

  • Can I bid on more than one butch?

Yes! If your wallet and enthusiasm allow it. Just make sure you're comfortable committing to every winning bid you make.

  • Can I bid anonymously or online?

No, but this will be something that will be considered in the future events!

  • Why InsideOUT and Gender Minorities Aotearoa?

The butches were asked to name organisations that they wanted to support. InsideOUT and GMA were the most mentioned orgs amongst the crew 🤗

  • Will there be food and drinks at the venue?

Yes, there is a full bar and pizzas from Deja Vu available.

    Deja Vu menu: https://www.dejavu.nz

  • Will there be a photographer on the night?

Yes. If you would not like to have your photo taken, please grab a wristband from the front door. Please have the wristbands on a visible spot for the photographer.
