FROM THE ARTIST:
Butoh: The Presence Workout
This workshop covers the fundamentals of Butoh training including the concept of a 'bodymind-set' and the use of ‘choreo-impro’ (improvisation within a structured pattern of movements) to develop the states of ‘being present’ and ‘having presence’.
Areas covered include how to:
· Be present and have presence
· Turn your presence on and off
· Develop sensory, physical and spatial awareness
· Enhance psycho-physical discipline
· Distribute, manipulate and project energy
· ‘De-domesticate’ your bodymind
· Improve concentrated focus
· Connect movements into one flowing action to remain continually present
· Resonate with energy during moments of action and stillness
· Adapt your rehearsal/practice space to optimise your presence experience
· Embody the presence of props and other objects
· Devise a Butoh performance piece
The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in Butoh.
