An hour of improvised piano to rest, move and sound.
By Heart is not a concert. There is no set list, no interval, and nothing to watch.
I sit at the piano and play continuously for an hour, improvised, nothing rehearsed. You lie down, sit, move, stretch, breathe, hum, cry, or simply listen. Whatever your body asks for. There is no right way to be in the room.
It came out of a simple question: what happens when live music is made for the people in the room rather than performed at them? The piano responds to the room. The room responds to the piano.
What to expect
• Arrive from 6:45 pm, settle in, find your spot
• One hour of continuous improvised piano from 7:00 pm
• A short, quiet landing afterwards — tea, no pressure to stay or talk
• Out by around 8:30 pm
What to bring
• Comfortable clothes you can lie down in
• A blanket or shawl if you get cold lying still
• A water bottle
• Mats are provided [confirm with venue]
Good to know
• Phones off or on silent, and away for the hour
• No talking during the music
• Come alone or with someone; no partner work, no sharing circle
• You can arrive lying down and leave without speaking to anybody
Who it's for
Anyone who wants an hour of quiet that isn't silent. No musical experience needed, no movement experience needed. If you've been to an ecstatic dance, a sound bath, or a long savasana, it sits somewhere between the three.
