Tue, 22 Sep, 10:30am - 11:15am AWST

Description

Discover how technology can inspire creativity, imagination, and storytelling while supporting your child's early learning. Each session explores a different interactive tech tool through stories, play, and creative activities that help build literacy, language, motor, and early STEAM skills.

Designed for parents and caregivers as well as children, Byte-Size Beginnings also demonstrates how digital technology can be a positive, purposeful part of family learning and provides ideas for choosing age-appropriate digital resources. Join us each week to explore, create, play, and learn together.

Pilot Session 2: Coding

Every adventure begins with a sequence of steps. In this session, families will meet a group of friendly coding robots, including Tale-Bot, Bee-Bot, Sphero Indi, and Glow & Go Bot, using them to follow story paths, solve simple problems, and create imaginative journeys together. Parents and caregivers will discover how playful coding experiences support early problem-solving, sequencing, and computational thinking while building confidence through storytelling and play.

Byte-Size Beginnings is a unique Storytime program that combines reading, singing, and hands-on technology-based learning through play, designed for families with children aged 3-5. Byte-Size Beginnings officially launches in Term 4, but join us for this special pilot session.

These sessions were made possible by the WA State Government, State Library of Western Australia, and Better Beginnings.
