Cabinetry for Beginners - Auckland (Weekend Series) Oct 2026

Learn to design and build a piece of furniture to take home and admire forever.  Using foundational cabinetry techniques and materials you will learn a design that can be adapted to create something for yourself such as a bedside table, a stool, a laptop table or a child's desk. 

It is an opportunity to be creative whilst learning and embedding cutting, joining and assembling skills, in a supportive and friendly women-only environment at our new dedicated workshop.  Tools and machinery available to use include the track saw, drop saw, table saw, jigsaw, drill press, electric and hand planes, sanders, etc.

If you are unsure what to make, we provide examples of projects you can copy or adapt made from the recommended materials (see below).

This workshop works best for women who have some previous experience with power-tools.  If you're a novice, we recommend doing our Introduction to Woodwork or Introduction to the Wood Workshop series first to gain confidence in working with some of the power-tools and machinery used in this workshop.

All materials except your choice of timber/plywood are included. Our recommended supplies for timber/plywood are:

Untreated

15-18mm thickness

• Please bring your materials to the first class.

• All workshop PPE (eye, ear, respiratory protection) will be available but we recommend to bring your own if you have it especially quality respiratory protection if you are sensitive to allergens such as dust.
