Event description

The UNSW Disability Innovation Institute and the UNSW Australian Human Rights Institute are hosting a consultation for people with disability and their representative organisations, as well as other interested stakeholders, in the Asia Pacific region. The consultation is an opportunity to provide information about persons with disabilities in situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies.

An outcome document will be developed following the consultation and provided to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The outcome document will be a contribution to the development of the Committee’s general comment on article 11, situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

More information about the development of the general comment by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities can be found here.
