Event description

The Village Theater presents the world premiere of CALYPSO by Jordan Muschler and directed by Emily Newmark.

Note: This performance will feature the understudy cast.

THE SHOW

A play with song and a bold reimagining of The Odyssey, CALYPSO gives voice to a character long overlooked. Trapped on an island, Calypso's life is turned upside down when Odysseus washes ashore and she experiences companionship for the first time. "Calypso" takes a minor character from a classic story and gives her a full-fledged narrative, spinning it into a tale about first love and the myths we choose to remember.

POST-SHOW DIALOGUES

At The Village, we believe theater is a powerful tool for connection and community. Join us after matinee performances for a post-show dialogue—an opportunity to engage in thoughtful conversation with our team, community partners, cast, designers, and fellow audience members.

Dialogues will follow Sunday performances on November 9th, 16th, and 23rd.
