calyx + Emily Duncan at Franks Wild Years
Event description
Weirdo darkwave violin artist calyx (narrm) brings their distinctive blend of strings, voice and lush synthesisers for a Sunday arvo show at Frank’s Wild Years as part of their DIY tour of Canberra, Sydney and Wollongong.
Between machines and living things, between improvisation and structure, between chaos, resistance and pleasure, calyx reaches through time to seek other worlds and possibilities. Sonic references include Depeche Mode, the Cocteau Twins, Severed Heads, Fever Ray and the Dirty Three.
Joining the bill is Wollongong-based singer/songwriter, guitarist and electronic sound producer Emily Duncan. Emily weaves a dreamy tapestry of ethereal vocals and introspective lyrics over lazy guitar, aiming to transport the audience musically to another space.
