Cambridge Flamenco Feria
Event description
Spain is the antipode of NZ. Connecting with the Spanish culture means embracing the whole Earth.
Flamenco is an ancient art with deep historical roots that date from as far as the XVth Century.
While Flamenco is mostly practiced in Spain, the frontiers go way beyond this Mediterranean country. It is not like other traditional music and dance, it is a soulful medicine enjoyed by people from all over the world. In fact, it's origins drank from many different cultures. It is a perfect example of a nomad just like, itinerant Gypsies themselves. Gitanos are the ones that have elevated Flamenco to its highest form. Coming as a deep expression of simple life subjects. Language becomes invisible, you will be able to understand the feelings and share the passion.
We invite you all to be a part of a magic day and be transformed to March and April in Spain, by transforming the Cambridge Town Hall into a Feria. This has never been seen in this part of New Zealand.
Incredibly skilled musicians and dancers as well as community groups will mix with families and anyone interested in our art. Delicious food and workshops will be available throughout the day.
You can't miss this.
