Campfire Creatures Term 4 Program 2025
Event description
Come join us for outdoor play and learning in a small group environment (12 kids maximum). Together we will explore nature connection through:
🗣️ Storytelling
🎶 Songs
🥾 Bush Walking
🎨 Craft
🧭 Games
🔍 Ecological Knowledge
🌳 What will we do?
Each week we will explore a new skill, play games and tell stories, and explore the beauty and wonder that is always around us.
Together we will live a culture of connecting to each other and to the land, and explore the richness that inevitably unfolds...
📍 When and where will we do it?
We will meet from 4pm to 6:30pm every Monday from November 3rd to December 15th.
The location is in Eltham, and will only be shared with registrants to maintain child safety. It is a bushy area with established paths and a picnic table.
🎒 What will I need?
The only prerequisite is curiousity! You don't need to be a 'nature expert'.
We do ask that each child brings water, weather-appropriate clothes, and some snacks. If you have other adventuring gear, please bring it and share it with the mentors so we can agree together how to use it safely and considerately.
👋🏼 Who are the mentors?
Our mentors are guided by a focus on nurturing the inner compass, sense of agency and wonder within each child.
Sol and Peter are our keystone mentors, with an array of wonderful additional mentors joining us throughout the program.
Every mentor has a valid Working with Childrens' Check.
Sol (she/her) is very serious about PLAY! She has been involved with nature-based education, play groups and facilitation since 2019 in Melbourne parks and bushland. Sol brings her training in Steiner education, therapeutic arts, and a love for all things muddy to give permission to the creatures we all are to be our truest selves. Lately she has been waking up to a large flock of Black Cockatoos singing awake the day. | |
Peter (he/him) has mentored with Firekeepers Village Camps and Raise Mentoring over the last 5 years. He also brings his background in professional facilitation and people enablement to Campfire Culture for a blend of professional and volunteering experience. As a mentor Peter loves to play games, tell stories, and look at tiny things. His favourite creature is the Dusky Moorhen. |
