Description

WA’s first statewide AI Design Challenge

Calling all entrepreneurs, coders and changemakers.

AI is transforming the way we work, build and imagine what comes next. The pace of change is unprecedented, and while the future is uncertain, one thing is clear: AI will be at the heart of it.

The question is, what kind of future do we want to build, and how do we work with AI to get there?

On 5–6 December, students from universities and TAFEs across Western Australia will go head-to-head in Campus Clash, a free, high-energy weekend AI Design Challenge tackling a real-world problem at the intersection of people, work and technology.

Represent your campus, take on rival institutions and compete to develop the most impactful solution. Campus Clash is all about friendly competition, bringing out the best in WA's next generation of innovators.

Over two days, you’ll work alongside your teammates to speak with real experts, test assumptions, develop ideas and build a solution before pitching it to a panel of industry judges.

And no, you don’t need to be an AI expert or a coder.

We’re looking for a mix of entrepreneurs, developers, designers, problem-solvers, researchers, creatives and changemakers who bring different skills, ideas and perspectives to the table.

What’s up for grabs?

  • $10,000 prize

  • A 12-month internship

  • Access to industry experts and mentors

  • Valuable connections across WA’s AI and innovation ecosystem

  • The chance to represent your university or TAFE and compete against teams from across WA

  • Two days of building, experimenting and meeting ambitious people from across the state

How it works

You’ll kick off Saturday with an introduction to the real-world challenge, meeting the people behind it and hearing directly from experts who understand the problem firsthand.

From there, the weekend becomes a fast-paced mix of research, experimentation, mentoring and building. You’ll test assumptions, pressure-test ideas with industry experts, access support when you need it and work through creative design sprints, unexpected prompts and brain breaks designed to push your thinking in new directions.

By Sunday, you’ll turn your strongest idea into a compelling solution and pitch it to a panel of judges for the chance to take home the major prizes, while building connections with some of WA’s leading voices in AI, innovation and the future of work.

You don’t need to arrive with an idea, a startup or even a team. Just bring curiosity, energy and a willingness to build something ambitious.

Who should join?

Campus Clash is for students from universities and TAFEs across WA who are interested in:

AI and emerging technology, entrepreneurship, design, business, the future of work, innovation, social impact, coding, research or simply solving interesting problems.

You can sign up solo and we'll match you with a team from your university or TAFE, or register with a team of your own.

No matter your discipline or experience, this is your chance to represent your campus, bring your unique perspective to the challenge and show what your institution can do.

If you’ve ever looked at the future and thought “surely we can build this better”, this is for you.
