This event has passed Register

Event description

Join the enAble Institute for a free seminar presentation from enAble Visiting Scholar Professor Courtenay Norbury on the subject of  "Can language interventions support young people’s mental health?

We know that young people with language and communication challenges are at increased risk for adverse mental health, but we know very little about how best to support these young people to improve well-being.

In this presentation, Professor Norbury will consider whether and how language interventions could serve as preventative initiatives that could attenuate this risk.

Professor Norbury is Professor of Developmental Language and Communication Disorders at Psychology and Language Sciences, University College London.

Her current research focuses on language disorders and how language interacts with other aspects of social and cognitive development. She is the Director of the Literacy, Language and Communication Lab and a Fellow of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Prof Norbury is a co-founder of the Raising Awareness of DLD campaign (RADLD), which initiated the first International DLD Day (now in its 7th year). The RADLD youtube channel has over 8600 subscribers and 1.8 million views from 120 countries around the globe.

Professor Norbury's presentation will be followed by a light lunch at 1pm.
