Description

Street vending is one of the most visible forms of necessity entrepreneurship in the informal economy, shaping everyday life across the Global South and increasingly in the Global North. Often micro-scale and family-run, street vendors play a vital role in meeting daily consumer needs. While widely recognised for generating income and sustaining livelihoods, street vending is also marked by instability, limited growth potential, and exposure to regulatory pressures.

As part of the CSI UWA Research Webinar Series, join us to explore whether street vending can meaningfully reduce multidimensional poverty, that is assessing not only income but also housing, education, and access to services. This presentation sheds light on the complex socio-economic barriers that constrain vendors’ ability to achieve lasting improvements in their well-being.
