Can the Great Economists Save Us? An Evening with Dr Linda Yueh
Event description
As the economic crisis deepens and a cold winter approaches, it’s time to look back at the great economic thinkers of the past and ask ourselves, what would they do?
Dr Linda Yueh poses this very question in her book, The Great Economists and she’ll be joining us to unpack the terrifying headlines, give context on the Government’s key economic strategies (or at least the ones still in place) and provide insight on how the greatest economists would have dealt with this difficult period.
From Adam Smith and David Ricardo to contemporary academics Douglass North and Robert Solow, which measures might lead to growth and which should be well and truly left in the past? Join us for this incredibly important conversation and bring along your thoughts on how the economic crisis should be handled.
Dr Linda Yueh is Fellow in Economics, St Edmund Hall, Oxford University and Adjunct Professor of Economics, London Business School. She is also Visiting Professor at LSE IDEAS and Chair of the LSE Economic Diplomacy Commission. Her latest book, The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today, was The Times’sBest Business Books of the Year, and Newsweek magazine’s Best Books of the Year.
