Description

A Real-World Performance Review of Urban Tree & Stormwater Systems

Join Citygreen for an exclusive half-day bus tour across Canberra, designed for engineers, landscape architects, and government professionals shaping the future of urban environments.

This is not a typical project tour. It’s a curated, on-the-ground performance review of urban tree and stormwater systems delivered over the past 10+ years, offering a rare opportunity to see what has actually worked, what hasn’t, and why.

Across 4 key sites, you’ll hear directly from those involved in design, delivery, and maintenance, gaining practical insights you can apply immediately to current and upcoming projects.

What makes this event different:

  • Real projects, real outcomes, and not theory

  • Honest insights into system performance over time

  • A clear lens on how to de-risk design decisions early

  • Direct access to multidisciplinary perspectives in the field

What to expect:

  • Guided visits to 4 urban tree and stormwater sites

  • Practical lessons from real-world performance

  • Conversations with engineers, landscape architects, and local government

  • Networking drinks to wrap up the afternoon

Lineup

  • Amaroo Group Centre

    Amaroo Group Centre

Gungahlin, ACT · 10+ year review One of the tour's most mature sites. Stratavault installed soil cells to support healthy trees in a busy retail precinct. A decade on, the canopy speaks for itself. The long-view proof of what the system delivers over time

  • Jamison Car Park

    Jamison Car Park

Macquarie, ACT · car-park canopy Trees thriving in a trafficked car park hardscape, grown in Stratavault, prove the system carries vehicle loads while trees flourish above. A strong TCCS + ANU dimension to the story.

  • Constitution Avenue

    Constitution Avenue

Civic, Canberra CBD · premier boulevard Canberra’s premier address. Avenues of English Oak (Quercus Robur) planted in Stratavault turned a dusty, car-dominated strip into a comfortable, shaded plaza, with trees cutting ground temperature by up to 10°C. Landscape architecture by Jane Irwin; built by Able Landscapes.

  • Canberra Light Rail - Stage 2

Canberra Light Rail - Stage 2

London Circuit / Alinga St · live build The counterpoint to the mature sites: a project being delivered right now. Watch Stratavault go in on a city-shaping transit corridor the 'before’ to everything else’s 'after'.
