Candid Journaling Club presents: Body as a Text
Description
Body as a Text is a summer gathering of Candid Journaling Club exploring the mind–body connection as a way of deepening self-understanding.
Hosted by Candice Yi, founder of Candid Journaling Club, a music curator and counsellor-in-training with a background in anthropology, research and creative practice, alongside Naliita, a movement coach, somatic practitioner, and DJ, exploring the relationship between body, mind and self, this gathering brings together journaling and movement as different ways of listening and tuning into ourselves.
Inspired by the expansive energy of summer, Garrawang season on Wurundjeri Country and the New Moon in Sagittarius, we'll explore themes of authenticity, freedom, expansion, abundance and moving towards new horizons. Through guided journaling, somatic exploration, curated sound and contemplative practices, we'll consider what our bodies might reveal about how we feel, what we desire and who we're becoming.
Placing journaling in relation with somatic exploration as two unique practices, this is an invitation to slow down, get curious, and see what emerges from this dialogue of self discovery: body as a text, waiting to be read.
What to expect:
You will be guided through a grounding meditation, somatic movements, and prompts to reflect upon in relation to movement as well as seasonally relevant themes. There is no right or wrong way to write, and there will be opportunities to share, but it is completely optional and there is no expectation to.
This will be a phone-free space, giving us the opportunity to slow down, be present with ourselves and one another, and create some distance from the noise of everyday life. We invite you to help us co-create a collective space for reflection, connection, and curiosity — and to explore what emerges when we give ourselves permission to reflect alone, together.
Whether you come alone or with company, we hope you leave feeling more connected to yourself, to others, and perhaps with a few new connections along the way.
Bring a journal, something to write/draw with, an open mind, and whatever you're currently sitting with.
A portion of proceeds will be donated to First Nations Futures.
A ticket includes:
Unlimited native herbal tea
Homemade Thai snack Miang Kham

A special thank you to Gardeners Lunch for sponsoring the ingredients for the tea and treats we'll be sharing at this gathering. We're grateful for the work they do in nurturing our relationship with food, gardening, land, and creating opportunities for communities to give back to the earth. On par with the philosophy we hold at CJC, food, growing, sharing and eating are all ways we connect with the seasons and the environments we inhabit.
We look forward to co-creating the space with you 🌿
