Event description

Please note: this online vigil broadcast contains stories of domestic abuse, which may be triggering for some viewers. You can contact 1800RESPECT any time of the night or day for counselling and support on 1800 737 732.

On Wednesday May 5 people across Australia will light a candle to remember those who have died as a result of family violence.

The vigil will be presented online by journalist and author Jess Hill, and will feature speakers including Wurundjeri Elder Aunty Diane Kerr, advocates Geraldine Bilston, Phil Cleary, Grace Donato, Sunila Chawla and Tarang Chawla.

In Australia, one woman is murdered every week by her current or former partner. By joining this evening of reflection and remembrance, you can honour their memories and help bring light to this crisis.
