CANNED HEAT - Aislinn Young, Sevilles, Ariel
Event description
A celebration of all that the inner west music scene has to offer with weekly rotating artists.
Canned heat is always local, live, loud & free.
A triple headliner this week featuring;
Aislinn Young - Angelic but powerful vocals to songs that lyrically centre around heartbreak, identity, and young womanhood, you could be forgiven for thinking the softly spoken songstress is a wounded romantic at heart. Catch her performing live, however, and she unleashes a fiery but charming beast. Contrasting her folk twang with irreplicable guitar licks, deep grooves, and gritty strumming, Young and her band sound more like Kurt Vile or Neil Young, but with her voice going beyond story-teller approach.
Ariel - “Ariel is an art-rock trio from Sydney, who debuted their ‘Housing Market’ single earlier this year. The band combines dream pop and psych-funk textures and infectious lyrics. Ariel’s sound is noted for using contemporary influences and New Wave melodies.“
Sevilles - a punk, folk and alt-guitar influenced female three piece. “They switch effortlessly between a soft crash and a hard landing, jazzier moments giving way to wigout distortion. It mostly reaches out with velvet gloves, but the iron fist inside occasionally wrap themselves around your throat, a killer behind the caress.” (The Underground Stage)
