Event description
Come and explore your backyard from a river perspective!
We'll be exploring the Curdies and Gellibrand on canoes, with a yummy, warming curry lunch stop in Peterborough in between.
Paddle on the Curdies River at Boggy Creek - 1 hour
Lunch - A warming curry and hot drink at Peterborough House
Canoe on the beautiful Gellibrand estuary at Princetown - 1 hour
Learn about the features of these places, the animals and plants that live here, past and present human use of these environments and the impacts on these ecosystems.
EcoLogic Education & Environmental Services will bring the guides, boats, buoyancy vests and paddling gear.
No experience necessary - Eco-Logic will teach participants the skills to safely use canoes to explore these river and estuarine environments.
We’ll meet at the Curdies Inlet Reserve Jetty at Curdievale and a bus will take us between sites.
Essential gear requirements:
- Water bottle
- Sun protective clothing and sunscreen
- Waterproof gear for paddling
- Warm clothes to change
- Shoes that can get wet, e.g. old runners, Crocs, or wetsuit shoes/ booties (bare feet and thongs are not allowed)
Minimum age 5+
Under 18s are to be accompanied by an adult
Children aged 5 - 11 years are welcome as we have some middle seats for these children.
Paddling children would need to be 12+. Two paddlers are required per boat, including one adult.
Spaces are limited so if you are unable to make it, please let us know so that we can offer the spot to someone else on the waiting list.
