Canvas for a Cause
Event description
Artists from across the country are invited to participate by creating original artworks on 250mm
square boards, provided by the organisers. The artworks will be priced uniformly at $300 each,
ensuring accessibility and affordability for all attendees.
The exhibition's unique twist lies in the reveal: until the moment of purchase, each artwork's creator
remains anonymous, hidden under a removable tag. This approach levels the playing field, making
every piece equally desirable regardless of the artist's fame, thereby enhancing intrigue and
fostering a sense of discovery among buyers.
The exhibition will kick off with an exclusive ticketed opening event. At the designated moment, the
exhibition will open for sales, with buyers eagerly selecting their favourite pieces and unveiling the
artist’s identity by removing the tag to secure their purchase. This interactive element not only
enhances the purchasing experience but also symbolises the unveiling of talents and potential,
mirroring the mission of Special Olympics Southland in showcasing abilities over disabilities.
