Assessing Decision Making Capacity — Full-Day Masterclass for Psychologists (Malaysia)
Description
Where the law is silent, your assessment speaks.
Families, doctors and lawyers are asking psychologists a big question more and more: can this person make this decision? This full-day masterclass is a chance to work through it together, with Malaysian clients in mind.
Dr Judy Tang OAM is a clinical neuropsychologist registered in Australia. She has assessed and completed many decision-making capacity cases there, throughout all levels of court. She will share what she has learned along the way, the tricky cases included.
Dr Tang will share:
how capacity questions come up in Malaysian practice, and how to approach them
how to run a capacity assessment, from the first phone call to the final report
how to choose tests that suit Malaysian clients
how to assess decisions about money and wills
how to notice pressure, undue influence and elder abuse
what to expect when you are asked to be an expert witness
In this masterclass, you will learn to run a careful assessment, explain your choices, and write a report that holds up well when it is questioned.
The day is relaxed and hands-on, with case studies, small-group exercises and lots of time for your questions. You will take home a workbook, case exercises, a contested-will case study and a report template. 6 hours of learning. Delivered in English. Light refreshments provided.
For psychologists and postgraduate trainees. Places are limited.
