Our next HealthTech Activator (HTA) valuation workshop is ideal for healthtech business founders wanting to improve their understanding of their company valuation and the role it plays in capital raising.  

Workshop overview

Presented by Jai Basrur of CGB Consulting, this workshop aims to:

  • Provide an overview of the principles and techniques involved in valuing a company;
  • Work through hands on case studies and exercises using valuation methods;
  • Discuss practical guidelines to consider when valuing a healthtech company.  

After covering the above, this workshop will enable you to produce and validate a valuation for your company that will assist you in your capital raising journey. We encourage those early to mid stage healthtech companies seeking to raise capital to attend. 

Event details

  • 9am - 1pm, Thursday 3 November 2022, including lunch.
  • Hosted in-person at Callaghan Innovation, Christchurch.
  • Cost: $50 incl. GST and booking fee per person. 
  • This workshop is limited to a maximum of 8 companies, with an allowance of 2 people per company.  

As this workshop will be held in-person, we will take every precaution to ensure the safety of attendees onsite. If you are feeling unwell on the day please do not attend we will fully refund your ticket.

About the Jai Basrur: 


Jai is the founding director of CGB Consulting, and has previously worked with - and advised - many corporate and government entities over the past 35 years. He’s held senior positions at Ernst & Young, Stern Stewart & Co and Horwath Porter Wigglesworth as well as advising at corporate board and senior leadership levels in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, India, South East Asia and the Middle East.

Jai has a wealth of knowledge, experience, and insights to share on valuations and capital raising across multiple sectors including medical software, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Jai has advised listed and unlisted entities on the valuation, structuring, and financial aspects of diverse intangible assets for strategic reasons, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, financial reporting, and commercial dispute resolution purposes.

Jai, a long-time NZTE Beachhead advisor, is also a regular presenter and lecturer at forums and business schools in Aotearoa and around the world. He has been a member of local and international panels advising on valuation standards and frameworks, and is also a member of a number of advisory boards where he advises on early stage and growth focused businesses. He is frequently engaged to provide independent financial expert advice on valuation and financial quantum issues in legal disputes.

Jai is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (FCMA, UK), Fellow of the Certified Practising Accountants (Australia), Member of the Institute of Directors in New Zealand Inc. (M Inst D), and Member of the Institute of Finance Professionals New Zealand Inc. (CFIP). He also holds a BSc (Hons) Physics and an MBA (Finance), and has attended leadership programmes at leading business schools.
