Capitol Christmas Tree Whistlestop Tour!

“Help kick off the 4,000 mile journey of the 2024 People’s Tree with the first event of the annual Whistlestop Tour in Alaska’s First City of Ketchikan! 

Since 1970, the USDA Forest Service has been asked to provide a tree to adorn the front lawn of the Capitol and this year it’s being harvested from the Tongass National Forest in Wrangell. This is only the second time in the 54 year history of the People’s Tree that Alaska has been chosen. Families at the Ketchikan event will have the opportunity to sign the side of the 82-ft long, Alaska themed trailer; get free CCT-themed items like stickers and ornaments; and learn about the effort to bring a 70-ft Sitka Spruce from Southeast Alaska to Washington, D.C”
