CAPSA Webinar: National Week of Prayer and Action – Journeying Together with Refugees and People Seeking Asylum
Event description
The Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum (CAPSA), convened by Jesuit Social Services, will host an online seminar on 18th September at 7pm as part of its annual National Week of Prayer and Action (16th – 20th September).
The online seminar will explore this year’s theme ‘Journeying together with refugees and people seeking asylum’. With a panel of experts (legal/advocacy, mental health support, community settlement) joining the webinar we will explore what journeying together means for each of us - as Australians and for refugees and people seeking asylum.
What are the current barriers and challenges, and how can all members of the community take action to support and advocate for refugees and people seeking asylum?
Join the discussion as we Journey together.
Chair: Julie Edwards, CAPSA Chair and Jesuit Social Services CEO.
Panellists:
- David Manne - Human rights lawyer and Executive Director, Refugee Legal
- Tracey Cabrie - General Manager, Cabrini Outreach’s Asylum Seeker Health Services
- Danijel Malbasa, former Yugoslav refugee, advocate, writer and lawyer
- Ruth Lesmana - Client Services Manager, House of Welcome
