Event description

CARABINER CHARMERS

It's you: you're the carabiner charmers.

Come along for our first artist collaboration. We have local artist Pimmada (they/them) guiding us on how to create some brilliant upcycled charms for carabiners. Whether this is your first time upcycling and beading, or you're a regular at it, there's something here for you to create.

Tickets are $38 and include all materials you'll need (including the carabiner - come on, add another to the collection, we dare you), as well as the instruction and guidance of Pimmada. We'll have the whole venue to ourselves for a small, intimate workshop.

There are very limited tickets for this one - this is our smallest capacity event so far.

Crafting with the queer community while supporting local queer artists? What's not to love? Hope to see you there xx

MORE DETAILS:

WHERE: Rose Soiree Bulimba - 90/94 Oxford St, Bulimba.

WHEN: Saturday 17th May, 8:45AM - 12:00PM

HOW TO GET THERE: There's plenty of free street parking in the surrounding streets for those who drive, and the venue is right next to a bus stop for those that are planning on coming via public transport.

WHO: LGBTQIA+ folks

COST: $38 + BF*

TIMINGS:

8:45AM-9:00AM: Arrive at the venue and take your seats. See some familiar faces and maybe meet some new ones. This is a time to settle in and get comfy.

9:00AM - 9:30AM: Introduction on the tools and techniques from Pimmada. They'll explain how to go about making some of the charms - like a dragonfly, or a bow-tie, etc.

9:30AM - 11:45AM- Craft time! You get to dig in and make your own creations. We'll be able to help out if you have any questions or need some ideas, but this is the time for you to go wild and create. There'll be a bunch of different materials available for you to make something as unique as you are.

11:45AM-12:00PM - Time to wrap up what you're making and complete any finishing touches. That's the end of the workshop.

(OPTIONAL) 12:00PM - 1PM -  You're welcome to join us for some chats and snacks at the park across the road afterwards, but that isn't technically a part of the workshop. BYO your own little blanket to sit on if you're keen for this part.

EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY:
We will be taking photos and videos on the day, so if you'd prefer to not be featured in anything, please let us know (either in person or via message). We'll keep you out of frame! The photo and videos will be used on our social media.

*BF = Booking Fee

SUSTAINABILITY NOTE:

To keep this event as sustainable as possible, the beads and materials that we will be using are reclaimed from a variety of different sources, including op shops, recycling stores, and second-hand jewellery. The trays for crafting and other materials are also sourced second-hand. This is with the exception of the carabiners and some of the tools, which are new.
