FEE FREE Carbon Accounting workshop 13 June 2025
Join us either online or in person at the Central West Adaptive Skills Hub for an online live and interactive FEE FREE workshop designed for non-expert individuals and businesses eager to master carbon accounting. Deep dive into carbon footprints, emissions and scopes, current standards, reporting frameworks and policies – with case studies showing the practical application of the information covered.
During the 5-hour live and interactive workshop, participants will gain strategic and operational insights essential for developing a robust carbon accounting system, including:
Understanding the basics of carbon accounting
- What is carbon accounting
- Carbon footprints, emissions and scopes
Learning how carbon accounting applies to public sector and business operations
- Embedding carbon accounting into budgeting & decision-making
- Identifying reduction opportunities
- Monitoring and continuous improvement
Policy context
- Current policy and standard setting nationally and internationally (e.g., IPCC Guidelines, GHG Protocol, Net Zero targets, SEEA, TCFD)
Practical context: Demonstrations of data collection, emissions calculation, reporting
- Carbon accounting tools for different types of GHG, projects, organisations etc
- Reporting mechanism and snapshots from GHG inventory report, SEEA reporting, carbon credit reporting, climate reporting standards
Lunch and networking (lunch provided)
During the course, participants will interactively tackle a practical case study, calculating emissions of an organisation and identification of possible reduction strategies. This practical experience will enhance your ability to embed carbon accounting into your business - applying emission measurements and reduction targets, considering carbon considerations in capital investment targets and operational decision-making, options for reporting approaches, and evaluation of various carbon accounting tools.
Participants will leave the workshop with:
- - Practical tools for carbon accounting including sample data sheets and reporting templates
- - A list of learning resources for further exploration
- - A deeper understanding of how to develop a carbon accounting system for their own business
- - A Certificate of Completion from the Australian Centre for Business Growth (AUCBG), part of the University of South Australia Business School
This course is offered fee free thanks to funding from the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations’ Local Jobs National Priority Fund. Lunch and morning tea is provided.
