Carbon Farming in the Wheatbelt
Event description
The National Industry-led Carbon Farming Outreach Program is delivering un-biased, independent carbon farming knowledge to primary producers
What you will gain from participating in this workshop:
- Understanding of what carbon farming means for farmers and land managers;
- Be able to calculate GHG emissions and carbon storage for your property;
- Identify carbon farming opportunities both inside the farm gate (farm production), and outside (value-adding, complimentary activities, or diversification);
- Decide the most appropriate carbon farming activities or practices for your operation and;
- Understand the obligations and risks involved in establishing and running a project.
All registered participants will be sent links to calculators prior to the workshop to commence getting a feel for the type of information required to help determine your ‘on-farm emissions’.
In the workshop, there will be:
- a worked example of an on-farm ‘carbon account’ (for those who don’t have a property to use as an example)
- opportunity to ask questions about your own production data, with time allocated to explore what changes mean to your emissions intensity.
Delivered with funding support from the Commonwealth of Australia through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Carbon Farming Outreach Program via the Grower Group Alliance. Supported by the WA Regenerative Livestock Group, Wheatbelt NRM and RegenWA Ltd.
