Event description
Reducing emissions relies on every single person in an organisation being aware of the carbon impacts of their choices, and feeling motivated and supported to take action.
Our online Carbon Literacy course is a blended learning experience, with self-study elements alongside 2 half days virtual training, and is relevant climate change learning for everyone. Designed and developed by the UQ Business School, and accredited by the UK based Carbon Literacy Project (CLP), the course brings together information, videos, science backed data and online measurement and simulation tools to build a comprehensive understanding of carbon and greenhouse gas emissions and their sources.
It is a great way to gain a solid awareness of climate change, and the climate impacts of our everyday actions. The engaging and interactive training allows delegates to map their own carbon footprint, and gain an understanding and motivation to reduce personal and work-place emissions.
This course is tailored to the university sector, and to support learners to identify practical steps they can take to get involved in your organisation's low carbon journey.
By the end of the course you will:
- Understand the basics of climate change science and how we know it’s a problem
- Understand how climate change is impacting us all now and how it will in the future
- Have explored pathways to a net-zero world, including systemic and individual solutions
- Be able to identify ways that you and your organisation can take action to reduce emissions, benefiting from this in the process
Who should attend:
- Sustainability Teams
- Staff and Student Sustainability Champions
- Green Impact participants
- Procurement Teams and others from professional services
- Supervisors, Team Leaders and Managers
- HR Teams
At the end of the course, delegates are asked to submit evidence of learning and actions from the course by setting out an action plan to reduce their emissions and influence others to take action. This is then submitted to the Carbon Literacy Project for evaluation, for a Carbon Literacy certificate to be issued.
