Event description

Come join GreenHomeNYC in partnership with CarbonQuest to take a tour of 1930 Broadway, a multifamily building utilizing on-site carbon capture technology!

Point source carbon capture is a decarbonization technology that reduces emissions of post-combustion processes by preventing carbon dioxide (CO₂) from entering the atmosphere. For buildings that run on natural gas, this technology can help them comply with emission regulations without retrofitting their entire heating and cooling system. Once captured, the CO₂ can either be stored safely underground (carbon capture and storage, or CCS) or repurposed into useful products (carbon capture, utilization, and storage, or CCUS), like fuels, concrete, or even carbon-neutral chemicals.

Event Details:

1930 Broadway is CarbonQuest's first pilot project demonstrating the efficacy of installing carbon capture in space-constrained environments. Since installation in 2021, this project has reduced CO₂ emissions from natural gas by 60-70%. On this tour, we will have the opportunity to learn how CarbonQuest implements point source carbon capture to help decarbonize NYC buildings as this technology has the potential to be replicated in thousands of buildings around the city where replacing the existing fossil fuel system is complicated. Our tour guide will be Brian Asparro from CarbonQuest.

Please note space is limited, so you must secure a ticket in order to attend.

Following the event, we will continue networking at a local venue details TBD.

Public Transportation Directions:

Subway: A, C, B, D to Columbus Circle; or 1 to Lincoln Center
Bus: M5, M104, M7 to Broadway and W66 Street

NOTE: We will assemble in front of the building at 5:45PM. To respect the time of our hosts and guests, the event will begin promptly at 6:00PM. Please note that tickets are non-refundable.
