Card Hacks for... Positive Parenting
Event description
Positive Parenting is one of our best sellers, and for good reason. These 40 simple beautifully-illustrated cards are built on the assumption that every parent wants to do the best they can for their children. Each card includes a sentence starter that people are invited to respond to however they choose, enabling them to reflect on and explore their unique experiences as a parent.
These delightful, approachable cards give parents, grandparents, foster parents and carers an opportunity to explore the joys, sorrows, challenges and gifts of parenting. Even if families are experiencing tough times, it is still important to celebrate successes and strengths. Noticing and telling the stories of these strengths is pivotal in building hope, resilience and the skills needed to parent well.
In this 30-minute FREE online session, we will explore how people can use the cards to:
- understand where their beliefs and values about parenting came from
- name their strengths as parents, and the strengths of their children
- talk about how they can draw on these strengths, as a family, in challenging times
- consider what they would like to do more, or less, of as parents
- reflect on how they could draw on the strengths of others
We will also spend time exploring how other practitioners have used this resource in different settings, including parent groups, supported playgroups, team meetings, supervision, staff training and in one-on-one therapeutic conversations. And we will check out the booklet that comes along with this set.
Perfect for social workers, health professionals, school counsellors, teachers, wellbeing staff, parents, and carers.
This session is facilitated by Innovative Resources’ highly experienced trainer, Alison Krusec, who creates a welcoming and open space for all participants.
