Are you passionate about culture and heritage? A role in the heritage /GLAM sector may be right for you, and there are opportunities to launch a career in arts and heritage right here in Ōtautahi.

This FREE event for senior high school and university students will introduce you to the many and varied careers in arts and heritage. Guest speakers from across the sector will share what's great about their jobs, and let you know what skills or qualifications you would need to do the same work. 

A light afternoon tea will be served, and there will be opportunities to mingle with the speakers and ask questions. Speakers for 2024 will include:

  • Jemma Wiki, UC Macmillan Brown Library
  • Lizzie Meek, Conservator, Antarctic Heritage Trust
  • Meg Nicoll, Art Educator
  • Sarah Davy, Local History Librarian, Selwyn Libraries
  • Tjalling de Vries, Exhibitions Designer, Christchurch Art Gallery

    This year the Careers in Heritage event can also offer travel grants to assist Waitaha Canterbury schools to attend the workshop. Contact Terri Elder at the Teece Museum for more details.

    This event is a partnership between the University of Canterbury Teece Museum, the Christchurch Archaeology Project and the Christchurch City Council Heritage Team, run with the assistance of Christchurch City Libraries.
